Social Studies
Grade 4:
Keep working on gathering your information. Bring in a memory stick to back up your files. You want to be finished your research tomorrow. It will take a full week to put your non-fiction book together. Remember to use sites that are written for kids. They are much easier to understand and it will be easier to summarize the information using your own words.

Grade 5:
Wow.... some incredible looking models! If you did not finish or want to add to your model you will have tomorrow to finish. Please read the pages in your textbook on the consequences of contact with the Early Europeans carefully. You need to understand the information to complete your brochure.

Math
We had lots of fun today with our first transformation...... translations or slides. Do you remember the other two? Can you guess the one we will be studying tomorrow?

Some of you still need to practice fractions. When showing equivalent fractions using area diagrams , you must draw two identical shapes with exactly the same amount of area shaded. The only difference is the number of parts each shape is divided into. Use your fraction strips or cubes to help you visualize.

Family Life
Today we talked about what makes you... you!
At the moment of conception, you receive gifts from your mother and father.
A trait is an inherited characteristic such as eye colour, musical ability or even rolling your tongue!
But who you are just isn't about your DNA. The love and care your family gives you to help you grow and develop your talents. Here's the video clip from today:

Boy or girl? The sperm decides whether the fertilized egg will be male or female. If you are a boy you have X and Y chromosomes. If you are a girl, you only have X chromosomes.
