Literacy
Today we talked about reading like a writer. Before you start writing you must narrow your focus and knowing your audience and purpose. Dialogue is conversation between characters. There are several purposes of dialogue in stories:

  • Helps the reader know about the character (what kind of person he or she is)
  • Moves the story along
  • Adds interest

There are A LOT of rules when writing dialogue.Watch the link below again to review the rules. The music makes the clip enjoyable, but the information is important!

Electrical Safety Presentation

  • The path electricity travels is called a ___________
  • The amount of electricity flowing through a conductor is measured in _______
  • The force with which electricity flows is called ____________
  • The place where electricity is always trying to go is _____________
  • Three examples of materials that conduct electricity are __________________
  • Where is the safest place to be during an electrical storm?
If you're interested in submitting an electrical safety poster, please read the guidelines posted at the front of the class.

Social Studies
Thank you to groups who worked well together to complete the task using calm, quiet voices. The purpose of today's lesson was for you to understand how City
Council makes a decision. It looks at all sides of an issue and consults with people who can provide them with information about the consequence of their decision. The issue today was about parking free downtown during the Christmas season. The people they would consult would include the merchants downtown, the community (people who shop downtown) and the city manager (to tell them the amount of money the city would lose if it allowed free Christmas parking).

Since we last discussed this issue, City Council has offered a compromise. See the link below:

Self-Regulation
Please make sure you are using self-control in the classroom. A quiet and calm classroom is best for learning. Meaningful dialogue is always welcome when appropriate.
