Our writing mini-lesson today was showing not telling emotions. Most of you did a very good job thinking of a situations and writing about how you body, hands, eyes, mouth, feet, heart and stomach would fee. Show the reader, don't tell the reader.
Example:
Tears
rolled down my cheeks as my mom told me the bad news. I tried to ask questions,
but I couldn't speak. My lips trembled as I walked slowly back to my bedroom
and closed the door. I buried my face in my pillow and wailed. My pet fish was
gone forever.
Math
Today you received your math test. Please go over your test with your parents. Make sure all corrections are completed. Answer questions on the cover page honestly. Return the test tomorrow.
Grade 4 problem solving task involved using base ten blocks to come up with different population. Each town's population had a different clue. All were 4 digit numbers and only 12 base-ten blocks could be used (1000, 100, 10, 1).
Town 1: What is the greatest population you can make?
Town 2: What is the least population you can make? (Tricky)
Town 3: Made with only hundred blocks.
Town 4: Made with an equal number of ones, tens, hundreds and thousands blocks.
Town 5: Rounds to 6000
Grade 5 problem solving task involved writing clues to determine a number.
We will be having another assessment task on Friday. Science test will be on Tuesday (tomorrow). Social Studies test has been moved to next week.
Religion
Yesterday we celebrated what feast? It is always celebrated the week before the beginning of the next liturgical season. What liturgical season begins next week?
We discussed some characteristics of a king and the characteristics of Jesus. Were they the same? What were some words we used to describe Jesus?

Science
Make sure you review using the information from the blog on Friday. There will be definitions (match up), short answer including making a food chain and identifying each living thing in the chain as producer, consumer (specific type) and decomposer. You must also know the meaning of prey, predator. You will have an application question on bird beaks and bird feet. Make sure you use the links as a guide.

Your thinking question will be similar to the story of Farmer Joe. What did Farmer Joe do because the birds were eating some of his corn? What happened when he did that? What happens to a food chain when we take one living thing out? What will happen eventually over time?
