Literacy
Today you worked with a partner writing the characteristics of a narrative for "The Frog Chef". Most of you finished in class. Please stay in for lunch recess tomorrow if you were not able to complete the assignment with your partner.

Math
In grade 4 continued identifying, creating and extending number patterns.Remember the first step to identifying and describing number patterns is finding the gap between numbers.

Example:
Write the pattern rule for the following number pattern:

3, 6, 7, 10, 11, 14, 15, 18, 19

What are the next three numbers?

In grade 5 we began the Mid-Chapter Review. Remember just like the grade 4 number patterns, you must find the gap between numbers on a t-chart or table to extend the pattern.

Religion
Share with your family how a friendship is like a rock. Do you remember the names of the three types of rocks? Have fun watching the video again!

Don't forget to go on a rock hunt to find a rock (no bigger than a fist) for next week.

Social Studies
Today was our launch of our unit on Canadian Government. One of the big ideas in this unit is to evaluate the decisions made by governments. Share with your parents the vote that we had in class today. Were you surprised by the results?

Science
Many of you have great schema about habitats and want to investigate some interesting questions. So far you should know the answers to these questions:

  • What is a habitat?
  • What must a habitat provide for a plant or animal?

A fun game to play about why animals can or cannot live in a habitat:

REMINDER
Our trip to the Sifton Bog is NEXT MONDAY AFTERNOON. Many students have not submitted the permission form or the fee for the planned trips from September to December. You cannot go on the trip if you do not have these forms. If you have your police check and are available, you are more than welcome to join us on Monday afternoon. Thank you!
