Social Studies
Grade 4: Today we reviewed the different physical regions of Canada. What is the difference between a physical and political region?
Tomorrow you will continue working on your mind-map showing natural resources in Canada in each of the seven physical regions.
Keep gathering information for your research. There are several student who are ready to start writing their book! Next week we will talk about how to write an introduction, conclusion and an about the author section.

Grade 5: Everyone completed their questions and answers to their First Nations Artifact. Some students needed more time to gather their materials so we will be building on Wednesday. Tomorrow you will continue to work on your brochure outlining the benefits, challenges and consequences of first contact between early European explorers and First Nations peoples.

Any student in grade 5 who would like to stay after school to finish Social Studies, is welcome to stay until 4:30 on Tuesday and Thursday of this week.

Math
Today we talked about fractions as part of a set and equivalent fractions. Changing from improper fractions to mixed numbers was a bit tricky. Review videos:

Family Life
We will be having a series of five Family Life lessons. The grade fives will be with Mr. D'Oria, while the grade fours will be staying with me. Today we talked about anniversaries and how families show love. How does your family show love?
Tomorrow we will be looking at how life begins at conception and the way a new life is created. Don't be shy.... every question is a good question!
