Social Studies
Grade 4:
What gifts from the earth did the people of Ancient Rome and Judea use? Are there any similarities between the natural resources available in those regions and Canada? Roman engineering was quite remarkable. Watch the video clip carefully to understand how the aqueducts worked. What's special about the Trevi Fountain in Rome?

Tomorrow you will be working on a mind map of the natural resources in Ancient Rome and Judea. Mind maps are creative, visual word clusters that include small illustrations. Here is an example below:



Grade 5:
How do the First Nation communities make decisions? What is a talking circle? What is smudging?


Make sure you complete any unfinished work for tomorrow. Charts will be used to write non-fiction comparison paragraphs.

Math
Using an organized list is a good way to solve problems that involve a number of different answers such all the possible side lengths of a rectangles with an area of 24 square centimetres or combination of coins that add to 65 cents. Use a list to find the answers to the above questions.

In grade five, we found the area of more complicated shapes by dividing the shape into rectangles and using the relationship between the length and width of a rectangle and the area (A = L x W).
