Math
Please practice estimating quotients with greater dividends. Remember, try to find a dividend that is in the same fact family as the divisor. For example:

5389 ÷ 6 = ?

Look at the 6 times table. What multiple of 6 is close to 53? 6 x 9 = 54, so our estimate would be

5400 ÷ 6 = 900

The estimate is slightly higher because we rounded up.

Try these:

6598 ÷ 7 =
2351 ÷ 3 =
3549 ÷ 6 =

Grade 5, you had to find the under and overestimates:

5389 ÷ 6

Underestimate: 4800 ÷ 6 =
Overestimate: 5400 ÷ 6 =

The actual quotient would be closer to the overestimate because 5400 is closer to the actual dividend. Grade 5, do the above examples with under and overestimates.

Religion
Yesterday we discussed the beautiful parable. A lawyer was trying to trick Jesus by asking him a question. What was the question? What is the answer? Watch the video. Which works of mercy did the Samaritan show?

The theme of Catholic Education Week today is "Mercy that Lives Through the Gospel".
We met a very interesting little man today. What was his name? What happened in the gospel? What works of mercy did Jesus show?
