Tomorrow we will try to fit in one more rehearsal for the courtroom scene. You're welcome to bring in any props for Friday. Practice your lines! You may have your book in front of you, but do not read with your head down. Face the audience and look up from your book.
Math
PROPER NAMES OF NUMBERS IN A SUBTRACTION QUESTION:
minuend − subtrahend= difference
Today we reviewed two subtraction mental math strategies.
The first is adding up or changing the subtraction question into an addition question.
Example:
70 - 28
28 + ____ = 70
28 + 2 = 30
30 + 40 = 70
So the answer is 42
The second is adding or subtracting the same amount to the minuend and subtrahend
Example:
91 -39
(91 + 1) - (39 + 1)
92 - 40 = 52
