Literacy
Last chapter of "The Garage Sale Mystery". Most of you weren't surprised at the culprits... the Mackey twins! The reading strategy that we focused on during this unit was making connections and the text form was mystery. Make sure you include in your answers this evening the specific part of the text you connected with and the connection you had. It could be a text to self or text to text or text to media or text to faith connection. In the second question, explain how that connection helped you understand the story.
Math
Today we talked about circle graphs. If a certain fraction of the circle represents a survey choice you need to be able to find out the number that goes with the fraction. For example: If 28 students chose their favourite colour. The results are expressed in the circle graph below:
How many students out of 28 chose green? yellow? blue?
Grade 4s make sure you finish your experiment on rolling a sum less than 5 or 5 and greater. Choose an appropriate scale for your bar graph.
Grade 5s make sure you complete the questions on broken line graphs and the questions on circle graphs.
Science
Terrific job working together with your group to write arguments for and against a development around a lake from the perspective of a farmer, developer, environmentalist, homeless person and people who use the lake for recreation. Next we will have a town hall meeting so that all those affected by the development can voice their concerns.
Reminders
Make sure your "Do Something" open-response is completed. Many of you did not finish last night.
We're off to see "Annie Jr." at St. Jude tomorrow morning.
Happy Birthday Abbey!
