Literacy
While the grade fives were away, we talked about making connections. Do you remember the four ways that we can connect with a text? Why do we make connections?
Read over a few of the slides below from this morning. When you start your letter to Mother Earth, you are connecting to the ideas, emotions, experiences or events she mentions in her letter. Remember to describe in detail the actions you can take to make the world a better place. Most of you have good ideas, you just need to explain and add details to your ideas so they are specific to you.

Math
Grade fours you learned how to apply your knowledge of fact families and arrays to solve problems. Try these:

  • How many different ways can you plant 16 daffodils in a flower garden?
  • If you want to share some Smarties equally among 6 and 8 friends. How many Smarties could you share? What is the least Smarties you could share equally?
  • Mr. D'Oria is arranging the Harem girls into 3 rows of 6 Harem girls. 14 Harem girls are on stage. How many more need to get on stage?
Quiz on 4 times table tomorrow.

Science
Don't forget to bring some materials to make your volcano. A small Gatorade bottle works well. For the outside, try to choose materials that will not ruin when wet. If you can't think of anything, try a shopping. bag.
