Literacy
Almost all of you completed your description of the setting. Mordecai Richler uses such wonderful word choice to describe the setting such as....

  • blood-thirsty sharks
  • death-watch beetles
  • murky waters
  • subterranean cells
Reading novels with rich words helps expand your vocabulary!

We have one more week with Lexia.
Please work on it as much as possible!

Math
Time for review. Most of you completed the assigned questions for Skills Bank. Many of you need practice making 10, 100 or 1000. For example:

Grade 4: 48 + ___ = 100 or 26 + ___ = 100
Grade 5: 375 + ___ = 1000 or 638 + ___ = 1000

These skills carry over to larger numbers:

347 + ___ = 400 or 2678 + ____ = 5000

Art
We worked on making your Pop Art "pop" with bright colours.

Science
How do you calculate volume? Capacity? Mass?
What are the common units used for each?

Today we talked about conducting a fair test. In a fair test, all the VARIABLES are CONTROLLED except for the INDEPENDENT VARIABLE. The DEPENDENT VARIABLE is what you are measuring. Watch the video from class again carefully.

Don't forget to do a little research about what materials make good insulators.
