Today we reviewed the message of "The Captain's Faith". What message was God telling Peter? GOD HAS NO FAVOURITES!
Well, what does this actually mean? Everyone is welcome in God's family. No longer were the Jews the chosen people. Jesus came for EVERYONE. What did Cornelius and his family do when they decided that they did believe?
We also made a connection with this story and what we are called to do at school every day. Just like no one should be excluded from becoming baptized and part of God's family, we should not exclude other students at school. Everyone did a super job presenting their skits today on this theme. Kudos to Jacob, Ava, Hannah and Konrad who used a real-life situation.
Make sure you are prepared to present your play this week with your group.
Math
Money... money... and more money....
Our goal today was to be able to represent, estimate and count money to $100 in grade 4 and $1000 in grade 5.
Remember our strategy of using a running total. Count the bills and coins with the largest value first. When counting coins, always look for coins that add to $1.00.
When using cent notation, there is no dollar sign ($) or decimal e.g. 65¢
Please count carefully when completing homework.
Mid-Chapter Review should also be completed.
Don't forget to complete corrections and get your homework signed!
Remembrance Day
Share with your parents some of the things we discussed in class. Who wrote "In Flanders Field"? Why do we celebrate Remembrance Day? When and why do we celebrate it? What is Armistice Day? What is a cenotaph? Where is the cenotaph in London?
We also talked about the Highway of Heroes. Explain to your parents what it is using the video as a guide. What are they planting along the route of the Highway of Heroes?
I've also included the video we watched last week.
